Since lockdown in March, band activities have been severely curtailed. We’ve had fun on Zoom, we’ve produced some distanced videos, and had a very short-lived return to small group rehearsals in early July, before the government put bands back on lockdown again.
However, on Monday this week, a group of us finally returned for a rehearsal!
In order to do this we adhere to strict guidelines, and have conducted all the mandatory risk assessments.
Attendance is purely voluntary. There is no pressure to return, it is entirely up to the individual band members. And it is outdoors, so big coats are needed!
From now on, we plan to get together twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30pm in Woodford) and begin the work of getting ourselves back up to “match fitness”, under the baton, as always, of our MD Nathan.
The players that attended our first rehearsal this week gave us great feedback, saying that they felt comfortable with it all and very happy with the measures the Band Committee had put in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
It’s early days, but it felt great for us all to meet again, and play music together.
