As we move forward into 2022, the band is thrilled to announce that we have bolstered our ranks with new players, including 3 husband and wife teams!

All our new members are highly experienced banders and talented players. Each of them has played with a number of local bands over the years. We’re thrilled to have them join us at an important point in the band’s development.

Firstly, we’re pleased to announce that Peter Vine has joined us on Repiano Cornet, and his wife Marion joins the band on 2nd Horn.

Our front row cornets have been joined by Kevin Bates on Solo Cornet, and we’re also joined by Kevin’s wife, Sarah Bates, who we’ve welcomed onto 3rd Cornet.

On the back row, we’re pleased to welcome back Chris Harris on 2nd Cornet. His twin daughters are also learning with the band, and his Dad, Brian, is one of our longest serving members.

Mark Hanson has joined us as Principal Euphonium, along with his wife Elaine who joins us on Percussion (Timpani, tuned and general percussion).

Our new players are completed by Alan Winkle. A talented kit percussionist, he’s a previous member of the band, and it’s really great to have him back.

Finally, Rob Johnson has moved onto Principal Trombone from within the band, an instrument he played for many years with other brass bands.

Following the developments in the band, Nathan Waterman, our Musical Director said, “I’m so thrilled with the influx of these experienced and gifted local banders! Although the band has turned out all through the lockdown restrictions, we still found ourselves with some gaps around the stands and I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have this group of players join us. The experience and enthusiasm they bring is already proving invaluable and I am extremely excited about the future of Thrapston Town Band”.

The whole band is absolutely delighted to welcome our new members, and we’re now really looking forward to a busy and exciting programme of Concerts and Contests in 2022, starting with the Mayor’s Concert on February 25th at Thrapston Plaza, and the Midland Area Brass Band Championships on 6th March in Corby.
