It was a busy Remembrance weekend for the Band this year.
On Saturday afternoon, we were delighted to perform the Remembrance Concert at St Peter’s Church in Irthlingborough.
The band gave a varied programme, which included some lovely moments of reflection in keeping with the theme of Remembrance.
It was also our first outing with our new MD, Nathan. It went very well, and we got some great feedback from the audience.
On Sunday, as always, we were very proud to provide Cornet players to a number of local Churches and villages for their annual Remembrance services. Bob Tattersdale was in Aldwincle, Nick Compton-Marriott was in Titchmarsh, and Connor willingly stepped in at Wadenhoe following a last-minute request.
In the afternoon, the whole band marched at the head of the Remembrance Parade in Thrapston, and provided the music during the service in St James Church. Our front row cornets, Courtenay, Nick and Connor, performed an ensemble Last Post and Reveille. The band’s wreath was laid in the church by Ray Jeffery MBE. It was the 59th year in a row that Ray has laid the wreath on behalf of the band. This year he was ably assisted by one of our Academy Band members – Annabel.
